It needs to have a mobile iOS application as well. 1Password, KeePass, and Dashlane all have a mobile app, but Dashlane sends the file to the app via their web servers, so I crossed out Dashlane. Now I'm left with 1Password and KeePass. 1Password can be set to store everything locally, has a great mobile app and good browser integration. KeePass has a plugin architecture. There are various plugins available from the KeePass website (such as import/export from/to various other formats, database backup, integration, automation, etc.). Note that plugins may compromise the security of KeePass, because they are written by independent authors and have full access to the KeePass database. KeeWeb tries to address this issue by providing KeePass users with options to create a self-hosted version of KeePass on the Internet. KeeWeb Self-hosted usually means that some form of web space is required which in turn makes many users shy away from it due to the technical nature of setting things up. All these factors make KeePass a great tool for an individual but severely lacking for an IT admin team. Secret Server is the top KeePass alternative – specifically designed for IT admin teams. Keepass has Secure Desktop & Two-Channel Auto-Type Obfuscation while KeepassXC doesn't. Both give great protection against generic monitors/keyloggers. with Keepass I can create multiple password templates and a default password template for newly generated entries. Overall I think you have more options and control in Keepass.
Productivity Sauce
Avira security mac. KeePass is one of the best password managers out there, but let's face it: the KeePass 2.x application written in Mono installs a huge number of dependencies and it looks anything but sleek on the Linux desktop. Enter KeeWeb, a lightweight desktop and web app that can handle .kdbx databases and features a polished user-friendly interface.
To run KeeWeb on a Linux desktop, grab the latest version of the app from the project's Releases page, unpack the downloaded archive, and run the KeeWeb executable binary. Open then the local .kdbx database, of link KeeWeb to Dropbox to work with databases stored on Dropbox. Instead of running KeeWeb locally, you can deploy it as a web app. To do this clone the project's GitHub repository to the document root of your server and switch to the gh-pages branch:
KeeWeb puts all essential tool and features at your fingertips. You can open an existing .kdbx database or create a new one from scratch. The app conveniently remembers the recently used databases, you don't need to select them manually. It's possible to organize entries into groups as well as specify tags, colors, expiration, and custom fields for each entry. KeeWeb also supports keyboard shortcuts, and there are a handful of settings you can adjust to your liking. In short, if the official KeePass application is not your cup of tea, KeeWeb offers a lightweight and sleek alternative.

Status
The app is quite stable now. Basic stuff, as well as more advanced operations, should be rather reliable.
Self-hosting
Everything you need to host this app on your server is any static file server. The app is a single HTML file + a service worker (optionally; for offline access). You can download the latest distribution files from gh-pages branch.
If you are using Docker:
- put your dh.pem, cert.pem, key.pem to /etc/nginx/external/
- run this script:
bashdocker run --name keeweb -d -p 443:443 -p 80:80 -v $EXT_DIR:/etc/nginx/external/ antelle/keeweb
To make Dropbox work in your self-hosted app, go to this Wiki page.
Building
The easiest way to clone all KeeWeb repos is:
The app can be built with grunt: grunt
(html files will be in dist/
).
Desktop apps are built with grunt desktop
. Sketch macbook mockup. This requires some magic and currently works only on CI, you can find more details in [the GitHub Actions workflow](.github/workflows/build.yaml). Best squarespace template authors.
To run the desktop (electron) app without building an installer, build the app with grunt
and start it this way:
